How to Text and Call From Senior Place
In this tutorial, we'll walk through the process of reserving a phone number and how to text a contact, and place a call directly from Senior Place.
How to Reserve a Phone Number
1) Navigate to the SMS & Voice in My settings

- Click Settings
- Go to My settings
- Click SMS & Voice
2) Click Reserve phone number

To text or call from Senior Place, you need to reserve a phone number, which is associated with your Senior Place account.
3) Reserve a number

- Type in the Area Code you want the number to include
- Choose the number you'd like to Reserve
4) Wait for the number to be active

Typically within 10 minutes, your number will be active. Once it says Active next to your number, you'll be able to send texts or calls from Senior Place.
How to Send a Text
1) Navigate to the message icon in a profile

Upon navigating to a Client, Community, or Referral profile, scroll to the Phone Number and click the message 💬 icon.
2) Obtain texting consent from the recipient

Before sending your first text to any number, you need to obtain consent for sending them messages from your new number. This can be done in one of two ways:
- Ask the recipient to text "START" to your newly reserved Senior Place number.
- Click I already have consent to manually record the date you received written consent elsewhere.
3) Write your first text and click Send
Note: A sentence will be added to the end of your first text (as seen in the screenshots below) to remain in compliance with texting regulations.


At this point, you can send your first text by typing in the text box and clicking Send.
4) View texting threads
When you receive responses, they will show up in Senior Place in two places:
Messaging module
In the Messaging module, you'll find all text threads across contacts.

Emails Sent
Within the Messages tab of the relevant contact, you'll find your texting threads.

5) Get email notifications (optional)

If you want to receive email notifications about new texts, ensure the "Email me when I receive an SMS message" setting is checked within My settings > Notifications & Calendar.
How to Call
1) Navigate to the Phone Icon in a Profile

Calls can be placed by clicking the phone icon next to the phone number field in a client, community, or referral profile.
How Do I Receive Incoming Calls to My Senior Place Number?
When a call is received to your Senior Place number, it will forward to your configured phone number. If you don’t have a phone number configured, the call won’t be forwarded, and an error message will play for the caller.
